The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday, August 19 stated that it has completed plans to hold its subsequent technical meeting on universities admissions at the Bayero University in Kano, Northwest Nigeria.
JAMB’s head of media and information, Dr Fabian Benjamin informed journalists in Lagos about the development. Benjamin said it will be holding from Monday, August 22 to Friday, August 26.
The head of media and information stated that the meeting would receive the lists of candidates who had met the admission requirements from the different Nigerian universities for its ratification.
Benjamin stated: “We are expecting a full complement of representatives from all the tertiary institutions in the country to attend the meeting.
“They are expected to submit the lists of first choice candidates shortlisted for admission into the respective tertiary institutions, comprising universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
“ The board and all other stakeholders will collectively go through the lists to see if they had met the admission criteria.
“The board, if satisfied, will ratify the lists and admission print-outs will be issued to the institutions.”
JAMB’s head of media and information explained that the names of successful candidates will likewise be uploaded on the website of various universities for candidates to print.
Benjamin added that the admission letters will contain information such as admission status, school and course of study as well as duration of chosen programme.
The tertiary education sector seems to be receiving kudos lately because the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Friday, August 12, stated that it was okay with the ongoing admission screening process in some universities all over the nation.
