In determination to leave commendable marks, Comr. Detso Godwin led administration of National Union of Benue State Students (NUBESS) Benue State University Chapter, on the 14th of July, 2016 held the first congress of the session.
OUTLINE OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE SESSION.
1. Matriculation / Welcome Party
2. Academic Competitions for 1st Semester. Inter local government quiz and debates.
3. Social Competitions for second semester. Football competitions (male and female category), Mr. &. Miss NUBESS, NUBESS Dinner & Award Night.
4. Lunch of Magazine.
5. Fund Raising for Orphans, less-privilege & physically challenged.
BURSARY ALLOWANCE
Comrade Detso Godwin narrated the struggle of the National body of the association in accessing the bursary allowances due to Benue students and has not been paid for more than 5 years. To this end, the national body will be meeting with the Governor on Monday to ensure the release of funds for allowances as earlier promised by the Governor.
REGISTRATION AND DUES
He therefore urged the students to register with the union, hence this will serve as a source of data collation which will be delivered to the Scholarship Board for processing of the allowances, hence the hitherto method of purchasing scratch cards and registering with the scholarship board had been scrapped by the union hence it was exploitative of the students.
Dues, according to the president was to the tune of N300 for new students and N200 for old students.
Registration will begin by next Monday for fresh students across the both campuses.
WORDS TO GENERAL STUDENTS OF BSU.
Comrade Detso admonished the students on the need to pay their school fees to aid the school management meet up to the task of effectively administering the school.
He furthermore enjoined the students to be of good conduct and avoid social vices, so as to enable them enjoy a hitch-free stay in school.
