The Benue State University Community is engulfed by air of hope and palpable optimism following the recent accreditation visit by seven panels from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja.
Presenting their exit reports to the Vice-Chancellor at the Senate Chambers and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office respectively, after a painstaking and thorough exercise, team leaders of the 7 programmes took turns to highlights their findings, observations as well as candid advice to management of the University.
It is worthy of note and indeed gratifying that all the academic programmes received favourable assessment from the accreditation team.
The Accreditation assessment was carried out based on the following criteria:
1. Philosophy and Objectives of the programme
2. Curriculum
3. Admission Requirements
4. Academic Regulations
5. Course Evaluation
6. Students Course Evaluation
7. External Examiner System
8. Staffing: Teaching and Non-teaching
9. Physical Facilities: Laboratory and Classroom, Equipment, Safety, environment and Sanitation
10. Library: books and Journals
11. Finances
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Msugh Moses Kembe expressed appreciation to the NUC team for the objective assessment and candid recommendations with the promise that the observations raised would be addressed immediately.
It would be recalled the NUC accreditation team on Thursday, November 23, 2017 visited the University for the purpose of accreditation of Seven (7) academic programmes. These are: French, Public Administration, Guidance and Counselling/Educational Management, Pre-Primary and Primary Education, Chemistry, Law and Mathematics.
