Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has directed that all educational institutions in the state display his portrait in their offices or face serious sanctions.
The Governor who gave the order through his Special Adviser on education, Hon. Matthew Mnyam, also directed schools to display the portrait of the President, Muhammadu Buhari and hoist the Nigerian National Flag in their premises, saying the items were symbols of authority.
The Governor charged private polytechnics in the state to adequately equip their laboratories and studios with state of the arts equipment and facilities in order to instill practical skills into the students, saying the essence of a polytechnic was to prepare students to be self reliant after graduation.
He tasked management of tertiary institutions to own a school farm as a deliberate way of diversifying the economy in line with the policy of the present administration, expressing happiness over the institutions that had already taken positive steps in the direction.
