VC asks students to resume, says fees increase for their good

Vice-Chancellor of Benue State University, Makurdi, Professor Msugh Moses Kembe has asked both old and new students of the institution to resume school as the academic calendar had already commenced since April 11, 2016.


Kembe who spoke during a mass at the Good Shepherd Catholic Chaplaincy on Sunday explained that conditional charges introduced by the University management is in the interest and good of both staff, parents and students.


He said the move will ensure the provision of quality education for students and promised to do his best in piloting the affairs of the institution.


The Vice Chancellor also announced that the University had given banks the go ahead to start collecting N22,000 as acceptance fee for new students and urged students to return to school as registration and lectures will commence in ernest from Tuesday, May 3, 2016.


Recall that following protest from students over a hike in conditional charges, the University management met with student union leaders and resolved that both parties will await the decision of Benue State House of Assembly who has already summoned the Vice-Chancellor and the state Commissioner for Education, Prof Dennis Tyavyar over the issue.
