BSU inducts second batch of doctors in 4 months

Another landmark in the history of the College of Health Sciences, Benue State University, Makurdi was achieved Thursday as the second and final batch of the first set of medical doctors of the University were formally inducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria after meeting all the laid down requirements.


The induction comes barely four months after the first set of 27 doctors were inducted in a colourful ceremony supervised by the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
Visitor to the University and Benue state Governor Samuel Ortom represented by his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu expressed happiness that through the College of Health Sciences, government core objective of enhanced provision of medical care to the Benue people is been realised.


He commended the College for its wonderful assemblage of the best medical brains in the country to help efficiently discharge its mandate of training doctors and other healthcare personnel for the country, and promised that government could do all in its power to maintain the existing high standard of training the college is known for.


Earlier, the vice chancellor. Prof Msugh Moses Kembe commended the State Government for facilitating the final accreditation which paved way for the graduation of the first set of doctors trained by the university.


Prof. Kembe implored the new doctors to be patient and not engage in activities aimed at getting them quick and fast money.


He however called on the government and concerned stakeholders to assist the College secure funding for establishment of the Clinical Skills Laboratory from TETFUND to enable them increase its intake of medical students.
